Extract : This is the main groove as it appears at bar five when it comes in. It’s played between the hi-hat, a secondary set of hats, the snare and kick. It looks more complicated than it actually is, but by the same token there is also quite a lot going on. The left foot is playing the offbeat eighth note against what is essentially a funk type pattern played open handed using a second set of hats set up on the right hand side of the kit. The key is to break each part of the pattern down and slowly put it all together.
